As an aspiring novelist I envisioned writing historical fiction but after publishing the nonfiction books that launched my career determined the old adage Write What You Know would suit me better.
To Thine Self Be True?
I quickly learned following that path came with unique challenges.
As a psychic and a medium it was easy to focus on paranormal fiction but it came with unforeseen consequences including
The Shot [Of Silence] Heard Round the World
To understand I need to explain that though I wanted to be a novelist from the time I was 3 I worked in tech while working on my dream on weekends, early mornings, late nights.
The Work That Pays Off
When I left the tech industry to work on that dream full-time I left as a successful consultant with decades of experience and industry awards.
And a lot of good relationships.
Reality Bites
It’s hard to determine which of the 2 initial nonfictions caused the most issue. All I know is suddenly all of my former coworkers iced me. I’m not kidding – total sudden silence. No more communication – no emails – no texts – no calls.
As Henry Blake says in Crisis “A real big empty”
As it happens I had two people in my corner. My husband who believed/believes in me and a mentor. Both said the same thing: “Then they aren’t true friends and you lose nothing.”
Fast Forward
When I came across this article about places to visit that are haunted I felt as if my world came full circle.
That my first paranormal encounter occurred at the age of 5 means I have a lifetime of experiences that went into an app and accompanying workbook.
Like Perspective Timing is Everything
As it happens I’ve visited a number of these places and can confirm they are indeed haunted.
In my work I explain I’ve been to places purportedly haunted and felt nada.
As I told my dad when I was 12 and we were visiting one such place “They may have been here at one time but they aren’t here anymore.”
In my app and workbook I detail places throughout the world that are definitely occupied by spirits.
The Thrill – Or Not – of the Fright
The app and workbook are part of my research into EMF Sensitivity, focusing on Esoteric EMs. However, I had a more specific objective.
A normal teenager I explored the supernatural with friends through scary movies, amateur seances, and ouija boards but I recall more than a few buddies so terrified by the paranormal they were left out.
Some would get up and leave a party once the scary movie started on the VCR/HBO.
As an ode to those wonderful people I included tools that help deflect these esoteric energy impacts so those who want to explore the spooky but are afraid of ghosts can join in the fun.
Happy Haunting Hunting!
