The Science in the Fiction

The Metatron’s Army series was conceived as a way to explore scientific theories I’d been passionate about for years even as my efforts to better understand them were stymied by a number of factors

  • Lack of access to published material
  • Lack of access to experts
  • Lack of access to individuals willing to discuss them

All of that began to change when I entered the tenth grade.

  • Befriended a future astrophysicist who was willing to argue the merits of my theories
  • Access to teachers who would point me at resources
  • Access to teachers willing to discuss the theories in-depth

One of the more memorable discussions was with my geometry teacher.  She had been teaching a theorem, supporting the lesson by drawing lines on a white board.  I did not agree with the explanation she gave and approached her after class to argue my point.

At this point I did not know my thoughts had a name:  String Theory…

I supplemented my view with a drawing of my own.

She listened politely then told me that regardless of what I thought what she taught would be on the test so I’d better do it that way.

Frustrated I went home and added a drawing of my theory to a growing number of papers on which I had written equations and added various drawings to support my research.

I taped them to my wall so I could look at them as a whole while pulling it all together.

I also called my friend who came and examined my work after which we had a good discussion.

When it got to be more than he was able to address he had me talk with his dad who was an engineer.

While I was thrilled to have gained a bit of traction I still experienced frustrations on my journey of research.

Inserting these principles into the MA series proved a wonderful way to offset the frustration.

Validation

I published the Metatron’s Army series beginning in 2016.  8 years and 13 books later I came across an article that grabbed my attention because the explanation I gave to my geometry teacher – included as a theme in my series – appeared almost verbatim in the opening paragraphs.

If the existence of cosmic strings is confirmed, it would be huge. They could help uncover the Holy Grail of physics: a theory of everything. And in the far future, they might even enable us to time travel.

The theories that predict their existence suggest that cosmic strings are thinner than an atomic nucleus. Prof Ken Olum, of Tufts University, describes them as astronomically long tubes. “They would most likely exist in the form of either loops or long strings that go on and on forever,” he says.

My geometry teacher had a beef with that last for some reason though I felt my argument sound.

From Dark Bishop

The Iconoclast, an evil being bent on destruction, created the artificial time gates after he was unable to find a way to unlock the natural ones.  His constructs created artificial dimensions as well, slivers of space that acted as straws in a glass.  Individuals were sucked through the straw into the liquid – another dimension; one not created by the Iconoclast.

From Metatron’s Legacy

“We were sucked through a time gate.

Mom used to call them straws.  It hurt her to destroy the gates because whoever was in the straw would be destroyed and anyone waiting on the other end would never be able to return.”

Are they hollow tubes?”

“Yes, though they are not empty.
